What is the difference between mineral and synthetic oils? Does Ultra Lubricants have synthetic engine oils?

Unlike mineral oils whose base is derived from crude oils, synthetic oils use manmade base stock which is made from advanced chemical processes resulting in a lubricant with predictable and precise properties. As a result, synthetic oils offer enhanced performance and protection making them superior to mineral oils.

All lubricants that carry ‘synthetic’ on the label are not created equally. On many lubricant brands, you may see “Semi-Synthetic”, “Part Synthetic” or “Synthetic Blend” or “Synthetic Technology”. This means that these oils are mainly mineral oils which are blended with a small % of synthetic oil designed to offer some of the benefits of synthetic oils at a lower cost than fully synthetic oils.

Ultra Tec and Ultra Diesel Tec are 100% Fully synthetic lubricants which offer maximum protection under high temperatures without breaking down, flows more easily at start-up when the most wear occurs and offers enhanced performance. Ultra Fully Synthetic lubricants can be used in vehicles in which mineral oils were previously used.

Ultra Tec 5W30, 10W30 and 5W40 (for gasoline/light duty diesel engines) and Ultra Diesel Tec 5W40 (for heavy-duty diesel engines) meet the highest API (American Petroleum Institute) ratings in their respective categories. Ultra Fully synthetic range of oils also meets or exceeds OEM specifications for BMW, Jaguar LandRover, MB, Ford, Porsche, VW and Renault.
